The Buddy has effectively been helping our surfing brothers and sisters along the East Coast since 1995. We count on Buddy’s Buds, that’s you, to let us know through the coconut telegraph when there is someone in need during catastrophic times. Sometimes it’s large scale devastation from a natural disaster. Sometimes it’s a medical need. We try to use our Organization to network with other groups and tap into our Sponsors to best fill any need that has been brought to our attention. We work with the boots on the ground to find a void that needs filling and make short work of it.
Most of our Humanitarian Aid has been to individuals and we have a very strict privacy policy. We feel that honoring someone’s privacy during one of the worst chapters of their life is the way to go. As Buddy so wisely advised us, “It is horrible to be in need, it is almost impossible to ask for help. Don’t make it harder on them by making a big fuss, just so you can publicly pat yourself on the back. No one will reach out. It’s too hard.” Buddy, in our experience, was right.
